Weekly Sports Report (12th June)

Sporting News: Miss Cram reports:

Prior’s Field has had busy week on the sports field. With only a few weeks until the end of the Summer Term, we have had some smashing fixtures both in Tennis and Rounders.

Tennis

The PF tennis team have served up some excellent results. The U12s played some quality opposition at the Moira House Tennis tournament on Wednesday winning 3 matches and losing 4. Their team work improved massively throughout the day. The U14s won their age group with 8 wins and only 1 loss. As a pair they played strongly together and totally outwitted their opponents on court. The U18s finished runners up in their competition, pipped to the post by 1 point and actually beating the winning team along the way. Well done to them for a incredible performance.

The Surrey Tennis Festival was played on the hottest day of the year, but the heat didn’t seem to affect the girls. Our U12 and U13 teams of Esta Greenhalgh, Lily Phillips, Millie Webb and Pippi Williams had a valuable experience of high level tennis and represented the school wonderfully. Our U14 pair, Izzy Tarant and Emma Stewart came second in their pool. Well done girls! Erin Saunders and Rebecca Haynes also finished second in the U15 group and played brilliantly. The U18 team of Alice O’Hagan and Daisy Phillips were their age group winners! They played St George’s in the semi-final winning 6-2 and beat Epsom in the final. This is a wonderful achievement and shows what hard work, comitment and having fun can do!

Our U13 and U15 elite teams have both reached the semi-finals of the Surrey Round in the British Team Tennis competition. The U13s will play Surbiton and the U15s will play Putney High, both games at home next Thursday. All supporters are very welcome to cheer our girls into the final. In the Surrey League we had competitve matches against St Catherine’s and Notre Dame but were unable to secure a win. All of our teams are showing a great work rate and comitment to training, so well done and keep up the good work!

Gymnastics

A huge well done to Rio Scott who won gold at her Horsham Gymnastics Club 2015 annual club competition. She did a fantastic floor display with lots of difficult moves such as backflips, one handed cartwheels and splits and finished off with a good couple of vaults. Congratulations, Rio!!
